NJHS Announces New Members!

Established in 1929, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) seeks to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. These five characteristics or "pillars" have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1929.

The Crossroads chapter of NJHS is pleased to announce the selection of 49 new members for the 2014-2015 school year. These students qualified to apply to NJHS by earning a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Following this impressive academic achievement candidates underwent a rigorous selection process in which they were asked to demonstrate significant accomplishments in the areas of leadership, service, character and citizenship. But the hard work doesn’t end there!

Once selected for NJHS membership, these young adults are called upon to serve as leaders of the school and models in the community. Members will complete a minimum of eight hours of individual service in a personal area of interest over the course of the next year. In addition, members will complete an additional eight hours of group service while leading and participating in several school based service projects.

New members will be inducted at a special ceremony at the Max Colley Jr. Performing Arts Center on October 7, 2014 at 7pm. This new group of members brings the Crossroads Chapter membership count to a whopping seventy students! Way to go Northview!
