Among Us! Winter Break Celebration

Looking for something fun to do over break?  Join fellow NJHS members for a game of Among Us on December 21 from 3:30-5:30. Sign up at Among Us Sign Up.  Snack bags will be delivered to your home.

Google Meet info.  Meet-qmf-vwrd-vab (google.com)

Among Us is an online social deduction game.  In the game, you play as a crew member aboard a spaceship, sky headquarters, or planet base, attempting to keep your ship together and return back to Earth.  But one crew member has been replaced by a parasitic shape-shifting alien who wants to eliminate the rest of the crew before the ship reaches home.  Watch out for the imposter who sabotages and frames others.

Shoeboxes for the Homeless

Help Support Mel Trotter Ministries
Shoeboxes for the Homeless

Last year NJHS students and their families provided 56 Shoeboxes for the Homeless at Mel Trotter Ministries.  Join us this year as we strive to make 75 boxes. Mel Trotter Ministries helps the homeless people who are in need.  In the United States of America there are roughly 552,830 homeless people.  As of January 2019, Michigan had an estimated 8.575 experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuums of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

One small way you  can help is to create shoeboxes.  Let’s work together to fill 50 shoeboxes for Mel Trotter’s Homeless Shelter.

Meet Your 2020-2021 NJHS Officers

President: Skylar Denyes

Skylar Denyes will serve as President this year. She is passionate about animals. This year she is hoping to create a service project where animals are helped. She enjoys both math and English. Outside of school, Skylar is an avid soccer players where she plays goalie for Club Revolution. Sklyar loves camping with her family. Oh yah, she loves pineapple!

Co-Vice Presidents:  Kelly Burke and Murphy Hossink

Kelly Burke Co-Vice President enjoys spending time reading books, doing puzzles, and listening to music.  She loves the outdoors and can often be found swimming, biking, and traveling. Her love of traveling has taken her to many National Parks.  Her favorite place are the Tian Shan Mountains in Uzbekistan. One major interesting fact about her is that she has moved ten times in her life.

Murphy Hossink Co-Vice President lives by these words, "Don't be to afraid stand out and be yourself." He enjoys making people laugh.  Murphy spends his time fishing and playing games. He can be found playing the trumpet.  Playing in the Jazz band was something he loved (thanks, COVID). He has a knack for music and his musical interests and preferences are always evolving.  He will even listen to classical.

We would like to spotlight our members.  Please submit a brief bio about yourself by September 28.  If possible, send along a photo too.  Email your bio to Mrs. Vogel at kvogel@nvps.net.

Service

Volunteering and service are more important during a crisis than ever. Social distancing does not mean social isolation. We’re all in this together, so be a helper. Let’s all do our part to contribute to the common good, so that when this crisis is over, we’re proud of how we came together to keep our young people, our communities, and our democracies thriving.

It is important to follow guidelines and restrictions set by your local government agencies and health organizations for staying safe during this time.  Before beginning any of these activities, talk to your parents or guardians to ensure that your chosen activity fits within safety guidelines.
Check out the link below which highlights projects that can be done from home.
