Attention 7th Grade NJHS Members

Double check your class schedule and make sure you are assigned WILSON for 1st hour Advisory. ALL 7th grade NJHS members should be in WILSON advisory. We will use Advisory time to do lots of NJHS activities so it's important that you are enrolled in the correct 1st hour. If your current schedule has a different teacher for 1st hour, just come to my classroom- the art room for 1st hour on the first day of school and we will fix it!😊

Hi Everyone!
Thank you sooooo much to everyone that signed up to help with Reg Day and launch party! We are good to go on both accounts! I may have to move a few of you around to cover all the bases, but I know you won't mind!
Please be sure to stop by the NJHS Info table in the gym in between your other Registration tasks and volunteer duties. You will have an opportunity to find out how to order NJHS merch and start to log your volunteer hours from the summer.

NJHS Parent Help Needed!

Hi Everyone!
The NJHS Induction Ceremony is coming soon! (Wednesday, October 5, 7pm- 7:45, High school PAC)
 I need a few parents to help out. So, students, ask your parents if they can lend a hand!!!

    Here's what we need:
1. An  awesome keynote speaker from the community to get us jazzed for another fun year of doing good for others!
2. A really cool printed event program that highlights all you wonderful New Members!
3. Fabulous stage decorations, not that you aren't groovy enough to look at, but hey, setting the stage is important!
4. Yummy reception refreshments- who doesn't like cookies, right?
5. Reception setup and cleanup- a quick job with so many eager NJHS members around!

Summer Service Opportunity! Northview Mobile Library

Calling all New and Returning NJHS members! Check out this fun service opportunity! Any hours you work this summer for the Mobile Library can count toward your 12 hours for the 2016/17 school year! Just remember to get a supervisor's signature! Keep reading for the details:

Northview Mobile Library

Every summer, book tubs are loaded onto a Northview truck and the 'mobile library truck' goes around to neighborhoods to deliver books to families. Often children clap and cheer when they see the book mobile arriving. Last summer, over 300 children and adults climbed the stairs into our mobile library truck, selected and exchanged books to read. The mobile library makes three visits (June, July, August) to six different neighborhoods. Children climb out of neighborhood pools to get books, families drive to one of the stops, and the excitement about books and reading is amazing.

We need your help. When we have older students and adults selecting books to read, it is hard for us to recommend, 'book talk', to these people. That is where we need you. With your excitement for reading, and your book knowledge, you are better able to help connect them with the perfect book than we are.

So we would love to have your support this summer.

Summer Service Opportunity!

Attention all new 2016/ 2017 members and returning members! Here's a fun service opportunity. This may count for either individual or group hours! Remember you have 16 hours of volunteer service to complete between June 2016 and May 2017.

From Mrs. Burgess:

"Little Free Libraries are coming to Northview! Little Free Libraries, or LFLs, are boxes of books that are free for the community to borrow and read and return anytime. We will need some responsible volunteers to check up on the LFLs throughout the summer to make sure they are stocked with books and in good shape. This will not be a huge time commitment, you will only need to check up once or twice during the week you sign up for. There will be an LFL at Crossroads as well as each of the elementary buildings. If you would like more information, please see Mrs. Burgess."

Group Service Opportunity! 6th Grade Tours!

Would you like share your knowledge of Crossroads Middle School with our new incoming 7th graders (current 6th graders from Highlands?) Do you enjoy speaking in front of others? Sign up for a tour slot! You will be working during 5th, 6th and 7th hours on June 1 & 2. You must have a B or better in your afternoon classes.
